  • 10:30 Jim Chiles, MN Pollution Control Agency The Minnesota Climate Change Advisory Group has been preparing a climate change mitigation plan for presentation to the governor and the legislature. Jim Chiles has participated on the Agriculture, Forestry, and Waste Technical Working Group and will discuss the policy options developed pertaining to waste and recycling.

  • 12:15 Dr. Fred Slocum, Professor, Minnesota State University – Mankato
    Climate change continues to be discussed widely in by the media and political debates across the nation and right here in Minnesota. Yet very little political action has resulted from that debate. Dr. Slocum will discuss the environmental politics surrounding the climate change debate.
  • 1:30 Dr. Mark Seeley, Professor, University of Minnesota Extension
    University of Minnesota Extension Climatologist Dr. Mark Seeley is the Program Coordinator for the University’s Climate and Weather Education Program. He will discuss our climate forecast in Minnesota and how waste management practices can impact our climate and forecasts.
